I took in a nursing mother cat whose tail had been cut off and they were absolutely horrible! They gassed her without asking my consent or even telling me after. When they brought her to me, she was terrified and completely paralyzed. I told them 4-5 times that she was nursing a litter of 5 and they prescribed a pain medication (buprenorphine) that is VERY unsafe for pregnant/nursing cats. I specifically asked them if it was safe and they assured me it was. One google search guaranteed otherwise. The other medicine they gave me was clavamox. I politely told them I would not need it, as I had a bottle at home (and they charge $50 for a bottle..) and Kennedy rudely said "well you should have told me before. I already mixed it, so you're going to be charged for it." He didn't speak to me whatsoever before bringing me the meds, let alone mention putting her on antibiotics, so how was I supposed to tell him?? I asked them what to do as far as controlling the bleeding from her tail and keeping it clean. He said it "wasn't actively bleeding" and that it was scabbed.. meanwhile her blood was literally pooling on their examination table from her tail and it looked red and raw. As if this was not enough, they put an e collar on her, as well. I asked about her taking care of the kittens while wearing it, and the vet tech said "well she doesn't nurse from her face, now does she?" So I specified that these kittens still needed to be stimulated and she would have to lick them to do so, to which she rudely replied "looks like you're going to have to do it yourself then." Seems to me that wrapping it and bandaging to control the bleeding, keep her from licking, and to keep it clean would've been a much better idea. During the car ride, she started violently thrashing around and I was terrified she was going to seriously hurt herself. I pulled over quickly to check it out, and she had pulled the cone half off and it was knotted very tight around her neck. It was horribly knotted (couldn't be untied, like they're supposed to) and she couldn't breathe at all. Thank god I happened to have a pair of scissors in my car and was able to get it off before she choked to death. I also took a 2-3 week old kitten who wouldn't eat, in hopes they would have useful advice or test to see what was wrong and they told me she would die "a slow and painful death." I got her to eat on my own by the way, and she's just fine. This vet almost killed my cat and her 5 kittens. I will not be returning, nor would I ever recommend them.
